Best Places For Dessert In Orlando

Tray of Cupcakes

With such a large number of places to eat, if you ate out for breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday, it would take you over five years to eat your way around Orlando! Not only is Orlando home to some incredible restaurants, but it’s also known for its sweet treats. If your sweet tooth fancies something frozen, a sinful doughnut or a chocolate feast, we’re going to list the best places for dessert in Orlando!

Cakes & Cheesecakes

Sprinkles

Known as the world’s first cupcake bakery, Sprinkles opened the first store in Beverly Hills in 2005 and has grown hugely since, now with over 20 stores across the US. It’s a must-visit in Orlando just for their scrumptious cupcakes!

Sprinkles is situated in Disney Springs, with over 15 different cupcake flavours available, including gluten-free, sugar-free and vegan options. As well as their famous cupcakes, there are cookies, brownies, layer cakes, ice cream and even pupcakes (cupcakes for your dog) on offer! They’ve also got a cupcake ATM, so be sure to stop by, pick up a treat and take a snap of the gloriously pink machine!

Cheesecake Factory

With a menu boasting over 250 dishes, including over 50 cheesecakes and desserts, The Cheesecake Factory is a must for anyone with a love for all things sweet, or for fans of the popular sitcom The Big Bang Theory! Known to have ‘something for everyone’, it’s the best place to have cheesecake when you’re visiting the US!

There are two restaurants in Orlando; one in Winter Park and the other at The Mall at Millenia. Whether you want to gorge on their ‘Original’ slice - the creamy cheesecake layered on top of a Graham Cracker crust, finished with a sour cream topping, or tuck into the Reese’s Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake Cheesecake, it’s the best cheesecake you’ll ever have! If it’s a special occasion, why not try the Celebration Cheesecake featuring a cream cheese frosting, vanilla cake, cheesecake and flavoured mousse!

As it’s one of the most popular places to visit in America, there will likely be queues; our suggestion is to either arrive early or dine late; there is also the option of ordering through their website and collecting!

Frozen Treats

Twistee Treat

With all of their restaurants in the shape of an ice cream cone, you won’t be able to miss it when you pass a Twistee Treat! They’ve been serving up homemade soft serve ice cream since 1983, and Orlando is home to a number of stores, whether you’re staying in Central Orlando or in Kissimmee.

As well as your standard ice cream flavours, they also offer some more adventurous choices, such as green apple, pina colada and candy floss. With numerous toppings and a variety of cone options, it’s the perfect place to cool off after a thrill-seeking day exploring Orlando!

Menchie’s

Looking for a slightly healthier cold treat? Then Menchie’s, the frozen yoghurt experts, are what you’re looking for! With more flavours and toppings than you can imagine, whether you fancy a scoop of lemon Oreo topped with gummy bear cubs, or a refreshing lime mint sorbet finished with Hershey’s Classic Caramel, there’s always something new to try! You’ll find many stores in Orlando, including along the US192 and within ChampionsGate.

Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers

Serving up an alternative to ice cream, Freddy’s specialises in frozen custard, which instead of cream and sugar, uses egg yolks, making it a much richer, smoother and creamier dessert. With numerous flavours and toppings on offer at the two restaurants in Orlando, we’d highly recommend making a stop. There is also the option of picking up a pint of frozen custard, so you can take it back to enjoy in your villa!

Cold Stone Creamery

Serving up the finest frozen treats for over 25 years and with several stores in Orlando, Cold Stone Creamery boasts a mouth-watering menu. As well as its Signature Creations™ and cookie sandwiches, there’s also the option of building your own dessert where you can mix in a variety of ingredients, such as apple pie filling!

Chocolate

Toothsome Chocolate Emporium

Based on the story of Penelope Toothsome and her robot friend, Jacques, the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium on Universal CityWalk was built on sharing their love of chocolate. With a mouth-watering menu, ranging from speciality milkshakes to delicious sundaes, there is something for everyone to tuck into within the immersive steampunk surroundings.

Our recommendation would be the Confetti milkshake made up of vanilla ice cream blended with confetti cake, vanilla buttercream, rainbow sprinkles and whipped cream – heaven in a cup! The best thing about the Chocolate Emporium is that they offer an experience; both Jacques and Penelope walk around the restaurant speaking with diners, it’s fun for both kids and adults alike!

The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium

Chocolate Kingdom

Ever wondered how chocolate goes from bean to bar? Chocolate Kingdom, situated near International Drive, offers a factory adventure tour. Guiding you from the very beginning of the bean’s life. You’ll be joined by a prince and dragon, taking you on a journey until the bar is formed. With bundles of knowledge, it’s a fun and educational experience for all the family.

Not only will you get to sample lots of chocolate, but there’s also the option to make your own chocolate bar at an additional cost. The adventure tour costs $16.95 for adults and $12.95 for children, with a number of additional chocolate experiences on offer too!

Doughnuts

Voodoo Doughnut

Known for their sinfully-delicious doughnuts, Voodoo Doughnut, which is based on Universal CityWalk, boasts over 50 different doughnuts and cakes. If you fancy the staple Raised Glazed or something more eccentric like the Bacon Maple Bar or the Voodoo Doll, the hardest part will be deciding which one to choose! The stores are pretty wacky, with an eye-catching interior. You can read more about the wonders of Voodoo Doughnuts in our blog here.

Duck Donuts

The story of Duck Donuts all began in North Carolina, where the founders used to holiday, and with no sign of a fresh, tasty doughnut, they decided to create their own! There are endless doughnut combinations to try; our favourites include ice cream sandwich (vanilla icing with a chocolate drizzle) and Key lime pie pop (Key lime icing topped with graham cracker crumbs).

Located in Crosslands Shopping Center in Kissimmee, you have the option of ordering online or stopping by the store. If you can’t quite decide on which doughnut to tuck into, you can create your own! Start with the coating, pick a topping and finish with a drizzle to craft your perfect doughnut!

Dunkin’ Donuts

We couldn’t write about doughnuts and not mention Dunkin’ Donuts! With many stores located all around Orlando, it is likely you’ll never be too far from their delicious snacks. Whether you pick up a box of half a dozen traditional-style doughnuts or a pack of 50 doughnut bites, known as Munchkins here to take back and enjoy at your villa, you can choose from an assorted combination of the classic glazed, blueberry cake, strawberry frosted and cinnamon, just to name a few!

Doughnuts in a doughnut shop

Lard Lad Donuts

Located in Universal Studios within the Springfield Area, Lard Lad Donuts is based on the fictional Simpsons store of the same name. It’s unmissable as you wander through the park, with the statue standing tall. Although the shop is small, it sells one of the most talked-about doughnuts in Orlando!

Pick up the signature The Big Pink, a giant doughnut with pink frosting and sprinkles. There’s also the option of picking one up in Kwik-E-Mart and the Krusty Burger food court within Universal.

Pancakes & Waffles

Unlike in the UK, pancakes and waffles in the US are more commonly enjoyed as a breakfast rather than a dessert, but we still had to include them in this blog! American pancakes are known in the UK as drop scones or Scotch pancakes, with the type of waffle eaten at breakfast in the US not being of the potato variety!

IHOP

World-famous for their pancakes, IHOP has plenty of restaurants in Orlando, serving up some incredible pancake combos at an unbelievable price! Whether you opt for the Pancake Platter, a combination of three buttermilk pancakes with either crispy bacon or pork sausages, or the Rooty Tooty Fresh ‘N Fruity - with eggs, bacon and sausages laid on buttermilk pancakes with a fruit topping, the award-winning pancakes are a must-try when in Orlando and are the perfect way to fill up for a busy day ahead!

You can also eat the more familiar crepe-style pancake, and with the stores being open all day, you won’t have to wait until Shrove Tuesday for your next one!

Bacon and Blueberry pancakes

Waffle House

Offering a unique dining experience, with several restaurants situated around Orlando, Waffle House is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year! As you walk through the doors, you’ll be greeted, then guided to your seat while your food is cooked fresh. Although the menu is mainly based around breakfast foods, there are a number of other dishes available. As the name suggests, they’re famous for their waffles, either sweet or savoury. Favourites include the peanut butter waffles as well as the classic waffle topped with eggs, sausage and bacon!

Orlando is home to some of the world’s best food, especially desserts! We hope that this blog has inspired you to add a few of these to your itinerary when you’re on your Florida Villa Holidays. If you’re ready to book your accommodation or require any further information, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us, and we’ll be more than happy to help!
