Enjoy an unforgettable day at Discovery Cove

Discovery Cove

Relax on pristine white sandy beaches, snorkel amongst colourful fish, watch the mischievous otters at play and come face-to-face with friendly dolphins on your visit to the tropical paradise of Discovery Cove. For anyone who loves nature, there is plenty to experience in this fantastic all-inclusive park.

On arrival at the park, it is tempting to head straight for the water, but it might be worth paying a visit to the Explorer’s Aviary first, where you will step into a tropical rainforest filled with soaring colourful birds and strutting peacocks. The birds are at their most active in the morning, and if you offer them a pot of the free bird food supplied, they are more likely to perch on your shoulders and feed straight from your hand!

Animal experiences at Discovery Cove

If swimming with dolphins is something that you have always dreamed of, then Dolphin Lagoon is certain to appeal to you! For guests over the age of six, you will learn all about dolphins in a 30-minute once-in-a lifetime experience where you will befriend a bottlenose dolphin and even get a fin-ride back to the shore! If you just want to watch the dolphins as they swim, head over to North Beach, where you will find a great vantage point of the lagoon. Grab a lounger or hammock and relax as you take photos and soak up the sun!

There is plenty of beach space over at Serenity Bay, where the water is kept at a pleasant 29°C (85°F) while visitors splash in the shallows with the kids, or take a swim in the deeper areas. Live your I’m a Celebrity… dream as you shower under a waterfall, and then use your best detective skills to search for the area’s hidden grotto!

Taking photos is a must at Discovery Cove, so make sure you bring along your camera, including an underwater one if possible.

With over 10,000 animals living in the park’s stunning 2.5 acre underwater world that makes up the Grand Reef, make sure that you put on your complimentary snorkel and enjoy nature’s spectacle as the colourful sea creatures swim by, but don’t panic – the sharks are behind glass! With various depths of water, beautiful white stretches of sandy beach and plenty of shallows to paddle in, there is something for every age and strength of swimmer to enjoy here.

Continue your snorkelling over at the rainforest-inspired Freshwater Oasis where you will be able to wade through waist-high springs, meeting with otters and spotting inquisitive marmosets watching from the trees above. You can even stop for a well-earned break and a drink at the in-water Relaxation Station! If that’s not enough relaxing for you, why not drift down stream on the crystal-clear Wind-Away River, and take in the majestic sights of the Cove as you float by?

SeaVenture

SeaVenture at Discovery Cove

There is plenty to see and do at the park, but there are a few extras you can add-on to your booking to enhance your visit – the most notable of which is SeaVenture, which is an experience for guests aged ten or above. If you have ever wanted to don a dive helmet and walk on the bottom of the ocean amongst the sea creatures, then this might be for you! Take a guided walking tour at the bottom of the Grand Reef in this once-in-a-lifetime experience where you will find yourself surrounded by shoals of feeding tropical fish, eye-to-eye with sharks the other side of a massive panoramic glass window, and even able to touch the creatures that you encounter on the way.

If you wanted to do the Dolphin Swim or SeaVenture experience it’s worth noting that times are allocated on the day on a first-come, first-served basis, so you’ll probably want to book in as soon as possible. Although activities begin at 9.00am the reception opens at 7.15am, so that’ll give you plenty of time to sort out your schedule and grab something for breakfast, which is served from 7.15-10.30am.

Discovery Cove dining

Don’t forget that this experience is all-inclusive, which covers all food, drink (even alcoholic for guests who are old enough) and snacks throughout the day, so you won’t need to have breakfast before heading to the park. Make sure that you don’t eat too much though, or you won’t want to do anything but nap! Everything is freshly prepared and if you have any special dietary requirements the staff are happy to help you.

Over at Laguna Grill the breakfast menu includes a hot breakfast, fruit and pastries, while for lunch (which is served from 11.00am) there are tasty burgers, grilled fish, BBQ pulled pork sandwiches and much more!

Booking your tickets for Discovery Cove

This fantastic day will take you away from the hustle and bustle of the theme parks; and with only 1300 guests admitted to Discovery Cove every day you will need to make sure that you book early to avoid disappointment! The official advice is to book at least three months prior to your trip, though there may be some availability at shorter notice.

You can book Discovery Cove tickets as part of a package, which includes park entrance and a dolphin swim (if you wish), as well as 14 days unlimited entry to SeaWorld and Aquatica (with or without Busch Gardens).

Give us a call on 01892 836822 for full information, prices and to book your Discovery Cove tickets. Please have a date in mind when contacting us, as you will need to book the tickets for a certain day.

Our Discovery Cove tickets are also available with or without a dolphin swim, depending on your preferences. Please note children must be aged 6 or over to take part in the dolphin swim. Children 0-2 years are free of charge and do not need a ticket.

Remember, as a trip to Discovery Cove is all-inclusive you won’t need to bring any food or drink with you, and you are also provided with towels, snorkelling equipment, wet suits, lockers and animal-friendly sunscreen – everything that you’ll need to have a great day out!

If you want to tell us about your experiences at Discovery Cove we’d love to hear from you. Did you swim with the dolphins and find the hidden grotto? Do you have any tips for people planning to visit the park?
