New Halloween Event comes to Walt Disney World

New Halloween Event at Disney World

You might not believe it, but Halloween is just around the corner at Walt Disney World, with their new Halloween event beginning on 10th August!

Disney After Hours Boo Bash will bring Halloween-themed cavalcades, character sightings, trick or treating throughout the park and more frightful fun to Magic Kingdom park on select evenings from 10th August through to 31st October. The event runs for 3 hours after park closing from 9pm - 12am, however ticket holders can arrive early and are able to enter the park from 7pm.

Many of you will likely know of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, which began back in 1995 and has been a popular event with families over the years. With limited capacity still in place at Walt Disney World, this event unfortunately hasn’t been able to go ahead for 2021. We are staying hopeful that it will return in the future, once restrictions ease.

Some elements of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party have been included in the new event, so you won’t be missing out for Halloween 2021, in addition to some new experiences to look forward to. The park will also be decorated in special Halloween decor and lighting, with spooky music to set the scene for your frightfully fun evening at Disney World.

Below we have listed everything that is included as part of your ticket to the Disney After Hours Boo Bash.

Disney Halloween Cavalcades

The cavalcades are a newer version of the Disney parades. They make appearances at various times throughout the evening captivating guests with the different Halloween-themes. Look out for four Halloween cavalcades:

  • Mickey’s Happy Halloween Cavalcade: Wave at Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto and pals, dressed in hauntingly boo-tiful Halloween costumes, in this musical procession.
  • Disney Villain Halloween Cavalcade: Watch out for fiends like Dr. Facilier, the Queen of Hearts and Jafar as they celebrate just how wonderful it is to be wicked.
  • Jack’s Nightmare Cavalcade: Jack Skellington takes to the streets to share thrilling, chilling tricks and treats, along with Sally and Oogie Boogie from Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas.
  • Maleficent will also make an appearance in the form of a fire-breathing dragon!

Halloween Character Sightings at Disney

Spot your favourite friends and fiends around the Magic Kingdom park. Be on the lookout for:

  • Goofy
  • Chip 'n' Dale
  • Miss Carlotta, Miss Renatta and Broome the Butler at the Haunted Mansion
  • Foulfellow and Gideon

Popular places for these characters to appear are the Main Street train station, porch of Crystal Palace and the balcony at Country Bears Jamboree, where guests can wave and say hello from a distance.

Be sure to keep your eyes open for the undead singers known as the Cadaver Dans, as they emerge from their tombs for a spooky cappella performance.

Trick or Treating throughout Magic Kingdom

You’re sure to have a sweet night at the Disney After Hours Boo Bash, featuring a range of well-know confectionery. Similar to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, there will be treat stations around the park so that guests can get involved with this fun Halloween tradition and head back to the Orlando villa with massive amounts of candy!

Experience Disney Rides After Hours

Over 20 Magic Kingdom rides will stay open into the evening for this Disney Halloween event, so you get to experience them at a different time of day. You will even be able to spend less time waiting in line, as there are a limited number of guests in the park for the Disney After Hours Boo Bash. This could be the best time to visit some of the more popular attractions. Here’s a list of some of the many rides open during the event:

  • Dumbo the Flying Elephant
  • Jungle Cruise
  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
  • Haunted Mansion
  • Peter Pan’s Flight
  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
  • Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
  • Space Mountain

Spooky Disney Magic Shots

If you’ve not heard of Magic Shots, these are when animated Disney characters can be added to your Disney park photos. Magic Shots are available during regular park hours as well, just ask one of the Disney PhotoPass photographers around the park about them.

For the Disney After Hours Boo Bash, some new Magic Shots have been created adding hauntingly happy surprises, special effects and spooky characters to your photos, to remember this boo-tiful event.
