What is Mobile Passport Control?

MPC allows eligible travellers to submit their travel document, photo, and customs declaration information through a free, secure App on their smartphone or other mobile device. This streamlined process reduces passport control inspection time and overall wait times, providing a more efficient entry into the United States.

Who can use MPC?

MPC is valid for travellers with an ESTA, Green Card, or Canadian passport.

What Airports is MPC available?

MPC is available at Orlando International Airport (MCO), Miami International Airport and Tampa International Airport (TPA). It is not currently available Melbourne Orlando International Airport. For a full list of available airports see here.

How Does the MPC App Work?

After downloading the MPC Application from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, eligible travellers create a profile with their passport or Lawful Permanent Residents (LPR) card information. Upon arrival at eligible Preclearance locations or U.S. airports, travellers select their mode of entry and answer Customs and Border Protection (CBP) inspection-related questions. Once submitted, travellers present their physical passport to a CBP officer for final inspection.

Benefits of Using MPC

• Shorter Wait Times: By completing administrative tasks prior to passport control inspection, MPC users experience shorter wait times and less congestion. • Efficient Processing: The App facilitates a more efficient in-person inspection between the CBP officer and the traveller, reducing overall processing time.

Is MPC Secure?

Yes, MPC prioritises the security of travellers’ information. Document information and inspection-related answers are submitted directly to CBP via secure encryption protocols. Travellers can store their profile on their device for future use or delete it after their trip.

MPC vs Global Entry

The MPC App doesn't let you access Trusted Traveller Programs like TSA PreCheck or Global Entry. But if you have Global Entry, you can still use the MPC App if you want. Some Global Entry users also get the Mobile Passport App as a backup, especially if there might be long lines at Global Entry or Mobile Passport lanes.

However, when you arrive, you can only use one of these programmes, not at the same time. So, you must decide whether to enter using your Global Entry membership or the Mobile Passport App, but you can't use both together.

Flight Diversions

If a flight is diverted to a U.S. airport that does not utilise MPC processing, travellers will need to follow standard processing procedures upon arrival.

Points to Note:

• Passport Replacement: MPC does not replace the need for a valid passport or other required travel documents.

• Processing Lines: Travellers using MPC are directed to specific processing lanes for a streamlined entry.

• Declaration Form: No paper declaration form is required; travellers answer CBP inspection-related questions electronically via the App.

• Family Use: Up to 12 profiles can be created for family members, allowing for streamlined processing for the entire household.
