A Guide to Staying on a Villa Community in Orlando

A sunny villa community in Orlando

The thought of choosing the right community for your Orlando villa holiday can be a daunting one if you’ve never travelled to the Sunshine State before. Where do you start? There is so much to consider and choose from. Reading through our handy guide will help you pick the perfect home from home.

The advantages of staying in your own private villa rather than a hotel for your holiday are numerous, private pool, more space, individual bedrooms for kids and adults, cooking facilities, more bathrooms and not forgetting the overall cost-effectiveness of a villa, especially when you are sharing with family and friends. Many communities also have excellent resort-style facilities for you to choose from as well, including swimming pools, sunbathing areas, gyms, arcades for the kids, sports courts, cinemas and lots more.   Some gated communities in Orlando offer that extra peace of mind when holidaying in a foreign country for the first time. Some communities have more residential homes than holiday homes on them, which you might prefer to get a more ‘authentic’ American experience. We have an in-depth review of over 100 different communities in Orlando on our website including photographs of each one, as well as a summary of the facilities on offer to help you decide which community would be perfect for you.   Many people want to rent a villa close to Disney and there are lots of communities within a fifteen-minute drive of these theme parks, including Emerald Island, Encantada, Formosa Gardens, Indian Creek, Rolling Hills, Windsor Hills and Windsor Palms. For those looking to choose a villa close to Universal or SeaWorld, then maybe take a look at villas on Bella Vida, Crystal Cove, Lake Berkley, Regal Oaks, Seasons, Storey Lake, Terra Verde, Windward Cay or Vista Cay. Our interactive map will help you pick the most convenient community for your family.

Communities in Orlando With Water Parks

Your holiday is a time to relax and if you have your own private villa with a pool you will certainly get time for that, however you might want to take younger family members to a communal pool with a water park so they can burn some energy and have fun.

ChampionsGate is a perfect community for all of the family to enjoy a fun-filled day zooming down the waterslide, floating along the lazy river or stopping for a drink at the swim-up bar.

Another great resort-style community is Solterra where you can travel slowly along the lazy river that surrounds the swimming pool, relax and watch the world go by on one of the many recliners or launch yourself into the pool from the waterslide.

Over at the newly-built Storey Lake community you will find another fantastic lazy river, waterslide and splash zone for younger guests.

Other communities with a water park include Windsor Hills, Festival, Paradise Palms and Solara where older kids can also test their surfboarding skills on the Flowrider Surf Simulator.

Communities With Children’s Play Areas

Play areas for the kids are also a popular choice for families and many communities have an area for the youngsters. Check out the facilities on Solana, High Grove, Highlands Reserve, Hampton Lakes and particularly Windsor Hills which has a great castle-style play area for your little princes and princesses!

Communities With a Gym or Fitness Centre

Many people don’t want to break their strict gym-visiting regime when on holiday and there is no need to do that if you choose the right community. If a villa with access to a gym is important to you then start by taking a look at villas on ChampionsGate, Emerald Island, Encantada, Solana, Solterra, Watersong, Windsor Hills and Windsor Palms. Almost 30 of our communities have gyms and fitness centres on them so there is always going to be something available for you.

Communities With Sports Courts

Often teenagers or young-at-heart holidaymakers want to burn off excess energy or meet new people by playing sports. Many communities that we have villas on have great facilities where you can more often than not get a game and make new friends at the same time. Basketball, beach volleyball and tennis courts are available with villas on Emerald Island, Windsor Hills, Windsor Palms, Solterra and many more.

Communities on Golf Courses

With its massive selection of amazing golf courses, Florida is a true golfer’s paradise. Whichever community you are staying on, you can be assured that you will never be more than 15 minutes drive away from a golf course somewhere. Many communities are located on courses and offer beautiful views across the fairways and greens. If you’d prefer to do more than sit on your pool deck and watch groups of golfers hook, slice and drive all day why not consider grabbing your clubs and heading off for a round or two? Communities such as Southern Dunes, Highlands Reserve, Providence Golf and Country Club, Ridgewood Lakes, ChampionsGate and Reunion might all be the perfect choice for you.

Communities With Fishing Lakes

Fishing while on holiday, can be extremely relaxing and rewarding. We have lots of villas with fishing lakes on the same community. All you need to do is bring along your rod and tackle, obtain a licence from a local WalMart store and cast your line. What a perfect way to spend the day while other family members exhaust themselves at the theme parks!

Communities With a Cinema

As well as the mainstream cinema chains offering the latest releases, some communities have small, free-to-enter, cinema rooms within the clubhouse. These are ideal for those rainy afternoons or when the family budget is getting a little tight. Although you can’t watch the latest Hollywood blockbusters here, you will be able to watch a family-friendly film without leaving the community.

Are Community Facilities the Way to Go?

Not at all! It’s all about personal preference at the end of the day. If you intend to just use your villa as a base and then travel out to theme parks and beaches all day then you don’t have to bother with a community with additional things to do. Often the villas on resort-style communities are a little bit more expensive than villas on smaller, quieter communities so if you’re not going to use the facilities, why pay for them?
